About

Rick Smith
Rick Smith’s career spans 30 years in professional media production, starting as a photographer in Florida in the early 1970′s. Rick started experimenting with 8mm films while still in high school. His early fascination with motion pictures continues to this day.

For over 20 years, Rick was the director of Visual Education Productions (VEP), a media production department based at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. This unique department produced and distributed videos, films, cd-roms, slide sets and books throughout the United States and many foreign countries. Not only did they produce the materials, but they successfully marketed many millions of dollars of these products through their own marketing expertise; Rick was in charge of both production and marketing. Some of these programs were broadcast on National Public Television and on The History Channel. They won dozens of awards and were recognized as an industry leader

In 1998 Rick founded Panorama Studios in order to focus on his personal creative interests and to indulge his entrepreneurial spirit. Since that time, Panorama Studios has continually grown and produced an expanding range of topics, both for Panorama Studios’ own commercial goals and for clients.
